Notes	Carter, Robert Smith, Polly 30 Sep 1819 Kentucky Green County After her husband's death in 1831 in Kentucky, Mary Smith Carter married Barnett Beavers Green Co., KY Marriage Book B, 1793-1836 lists "BEAVER, Barnett, to CARTER, Mary, 7 Feb. 1833." In 1840 Barnett Beavers is listed in the Southern Division, Green Co., KY, but not in 1850. Between 1840 and 1850, Barnett Beavers died and Mary Smith Carter Beavers moved with her children to Callaway Co., Missouri. Mary had 6 known children with Robert Carter and 3 known children with Barnett Beavers. Her oldest son, my 2nd great grandfather, John G. Carter was in Callaway Co., Missouri by 1841. In 1850 Mary Beavers is listed with John Smyth in the 12th Dist, Callaway Co., MO with Robert (24), James (20), Martha (19), Elisa (14), William (12) & Sarah (9). The children are all listed as Beavers. John Smith is either Mary's older brother or some other relative. Robert, James, and Martha are Robert & Mary Carter's children. Their ages match later records. Elisa, William & Sarah being born after 1833 are Mary & Barnett Beavers' children. John, Alexander, and Mary Ann Carter are all in Callaway Co., Missouri and already married by 1850. In 1860 Mary Beavers is with son Robert Carter in Salt River twp., Audrain Co., MO along with EM Carter [I'm not sure what Eliza's maiden name is], EJ Beavers, Wm Beavers & SE Beavers. JT Carter [James T] & family are living next door. By 1870 Mary is living with Robert Powell and wife Eliza, etc. in Salt River twp., Audrain Co., MO. I believe this to be Robert Todd Powell and Eliza J Beavers. They moved to Colusa Co., CA. There is a connection between this Powell family and the husband of one of John G. Carter's daughter, see notes under Nancy Carter. Mary Beavers "died 4 Nov 1876 aged about 79 years" according to the headstone.
