    • Samuel Dawson Miss Nannie Loyd 22 May 1878 D33

      The George (1799-1882) Dawson family, in Callaway county since 1829, is listed in all censuses 1830-1880, with son Samuel named in his father's household in 1850 (age 16) and 1860 (age 26), thus born 1834, and neighboring his father George Dawson in the 1870 and 1880 censuses.

      George Dawson was the brother of Benjamin Dawson (c. 1802-1847). They were both born in Stafford co. VA, grew up in Clark co. KY, married sisters Mary and Lydia Newland there, and came to Missouri in about 1828, together with their father-in-law, John Newland, jr.

      George's wife was Mary "Polly" Newland (c. 1802-1846) their children were John (1826-1906), Christopher Columbus (1829-1909), Samuel S. (1834-1905), Sarah Martha Elizabeth (1837-1873, marr. James F. Custard), George William (1839-1910). All lived and died in Callaway county.
