They moved to Washington Co. Ark. in 1861, to Sebastion Co., near Jenny Lind, Ark. in 1869. He joined the Presbyterian Church at the age of 16, and was a ruling elder most of the rest of his life. Was a major in the Blackhawk War. According to family tradition, this family was moving from Missouri to Arkansas and were at Pea Ridge, Ark. at the time when that Civil War battle was fought, March 7, 1862.
Robert Allen Caldwell was buried on a hill to the east of US Highway 71 south of Greenwood. It Is private property and there used to be a dairy there but the family got word they were going to build there so the stone was moved To Coop Prairie Cemetery in Mansfield. Glenn Caldwell repeats the story his dad, Latt Caldwell told him about walking behind the wagon with his grandfather's casket up the hill and it being too steep and snowy , the horses could not pull it and men had to carry the casket. The ground was frozen and they had to use dynamite to open a grave. The site was on family property above where he lived and where his pottery was located...TMShort II
