Annie and Lee Dunavant had no children but they raised his nephew Edward Dunavant, son of Lee's brother, William. Signed his brother, Edmund's death certificate in 1929. Headstone gives his birth date as Dec. 3, 1861 and death date as July 17, 1933. Census for 1880, 1900, 1910, and 1920 give 1863 and 1930 gives 1865. His brother William was born in 1861. His death certificate gives Dec. 31, 1861, but there is a big mistake on the information on his death certificate, so I'm not sure about trusting the information there that was given by his wife. She gave the name Lizzy Carrington as his mother, and his mother was Amanda Hyten. However, his parents died when he was a child, and it is possible that that he lived with his aunt and uncle, John Carrington and Nancy Hyten. That could be where the Carrington name came from. His death certificate was dated July 16, not July 17 as is on his headstone.
