MRS. S. S. CRAGHEAD DEAD.
Resident of Callaway for Many Years Passed Away at Home of Son Near Benton City.
     Mrs. S. S. Craghead, formerly of the Toledo neighborhood, this county, died Monday morning at 11:00 o'clock at the home of her son, O. R. Craghead, four miles southwest of Benton City. Funeral services were held at Unity Baptist church, near Toledo, Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J. J. Cooper, of this city, and burial was in the Unity cemetery.
     Mrs. Craghead was reared in Warren county, but went to school in Callaway. Her maiden name was Mattie Smith. She was married in Decemer, 1867, when she came to Callaway to live and had made her home here until recently, dividing her time the last few years among her children, three of whom are living: O. R., near Benton City; O.. E. Craghead, Colorado, and Mrs. Lavinia Settles, of the Toledo neighborhood. One brother, John Smith, of High Hill, also is living.
     Mrs. Craghead was held in high esteem by her friends and acquaintances, and much sympathy is felt for those who are bereaved by her death.

DEATH OF MRS. CRAGHEAD
     Mrs. S. S. Craghead, for many years a resident of Callaway County, died Monday morning at the home of her son, O. R. Craghead, four miles southwest of Benton City, Audrain County. She was 72 years old and had been in poor health for several years. She did not become seriously ill, however until a short time ago when she contracted pneumonia, and this resulted in her death.
The funeral was held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Unity Baptist church, the service being conducted by the Rev. J. J. Cooper. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
     Mrs. Craghead was born in Warren county and her maiden name was Miss Mattie Smith. Before her marriage in 1867 to Mr. Craghead, she attended school in Callaway county and after her marriage she and her husband came here to live, purchasing a farm in the Toledo community. They lived there until about two years ago when the death of Mr. Craghead occurred.
     Deceased is survived by three children. They are, O. R. Craghead of near Benton City; O.. E. Craghead of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. John Kettle of Callaway county. She also leaves one brother, John Smith of High Hill, Mo.

According to her death certificate she was born in Montgomery County, her obituary says Warren county, Missouri.
