      1811, March Crt. Timothy Holt, ADM of Robert Holt v James Holt & Wm. Stanfield. Debt. Judgement for Holt,m $2027 and costs. Judgement will be discharged by payment of $1013 1/2 with interest from Jan. 3, 1808, deducting $800 paid on March 29, 1811.

      # Note: A suit filed in September 1812 in Halifax County, VA names his heirs as Robert Holt, Nancy Watkins, William Holt, James Holt, Phoebe Warren, Rebecca Foard, Elizabeth Brooks, Sarah Dillard, and Timotny Holt. The suit was filed by the heirs of John Brooks, deceased husband of Elizabeth. 1

      1743, 20 July. This Indenture made the twentieth day of July in the year of our Lord Christ 1743 between Robert Holt of the Co. of Spotsylvania, Planter & Elizabeth his Wife of the one part and Richard Holt of Drysdale Parish & Co. of King & Queen, Black Smith, of the other part. Witnesseth that for the summ of Twenty two pounds current money the said Robert Holt hath granted all that his tract of Land containing One hundred acres more or less being part of a tract of 550 acres granted to William Johnson by Patent dated the 26th day of April in the year of our Lord 1704, and by the said William Johnson conveyed to James Boughan Senr. by deed bearing date the 9th day of June in the year 1704; and by the said James Boughan conveyed and made over to William Holt, Father to the said Robert Holt, party to these presents, by Deed dated the 10th day of December in the year 1709, which said Land is now come and descended to the said Robert Hold (sic) as heir at Law to his said Father William Holt deceased, scituate and being in the Parish of SouthFarnham in the Co. of Essex and bounded, Begining at a Gum standing in a Branch of Jellson's Crfeek called by the name of Master's Swamp and runeth from thence WSW to a red Oak standing nigh the Road that leads to John Lovings at the head of a Valley and running thence ENE to the begining; together with all houses orchards gardens woods and appurtenances belonging. To have and to hold the said One hundred acres of Land and all the appurtenances unto the said Richard Holt his heirs & assigns forever from henceforth paying the Quitrents which shall hereafter become due unto our Soverign Lord the King his heirs & Successors and the said Robert Holt for himself and his heirs doth grnt the said Land against him his heirs and any other persons and will warrant and forever defend by these presents and that the said Richard Holt hereafter lawfully to possess and enjoy the said Land without any trouble of the said Robert Holt his heirs.       1749, 9 May. Albemarle Co. VA. Robert Holt. Patent 415 AC Goochland Co., Buffalo Creek & crossing Little Buffalo Creek adj Hemry Cary Gent, James Terry, Grizel Coleman. (Patents 27-149) [ This land is in Nelson Co. today. It was in Albemarle in 1749m but they had been in Goochland bef 1744).

Robert Holt & Elizabeth his wife of St. Anns Parish, Albemarle Co. to Alexander Spiers, Glascow merchant, 215 AC Buffalo Creek part of a patent of May 9, 1749, adj Rene Chastain, Joseph Adcock's land now in possession of sd Spiers, but which formerly belonged to Henry Cary.       1754, 19 Feb. Halifax Co. Deeeds for land from Wm. Byrd Esqr to Robert Holt et al proved by David Caldwell. (OB 1-335) [ No deed for this sale was recorded until 1763 but it is clear that Robert Holt & others some of whom listed below have taken up the land before the end of the year 1754]

Caldwell vs Robert Holt, Francis Lawson, Abraham Rogers, David Brandon, Thomas Caldwell, William Astin, Samuel Harris, James Irwin, Peter Torian & Joseph Johnson, on attachment for attendane, is dismissed. (OB 1-493) [ These court items have to do with massive sales of land in Halifax by the agents of Wm. Byrd. The Lawsons, Irvins & Brandons bought 100s of acres from Wm. Byrd's agents c1750 and there seems to have been controversy about the payments]

      Warren Brooks admr of John Brooks decd Plaintiff against Elizabeth Brooks, Timothy Holt, Phebe Warren, Rebecca Foard, Robert Holt, William Watkins and Nancy his wife James Holt Stephen Smith admr of William Holt decd and Richard Dillard and Sarah his wife. Defendants.
      It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the plaintiff hath proceeded against the defendants Robrt Holt William Watkins and Nancy his wife, Stephen Smith administrator of William Holt decd, James Holt, Phoebe Warren and Rebecca Foard who are not inhabitants of this Commonwealth, in manner prescribed by law and the defendants Elizabeth Brooks and Richard Dillard and Sarah his wife having been duly served with the decree nisi in this cause and not having answered the bill of the Plaintiff: The Court on motion of the Plaintiff by Counsel takes the same for confessed as to the Defendants Robert Holt, William Watkins and Nancy his wife, Stephen Smith admr of William Holt decd, James Holt, Phoebe Warren, Rebecca Ford, Elizabeth Brooks and Richard Dillard and Sarah his wife - Whereupon on hearing the bill and answer of the defendant Timothy Holt, It is decreed and ordered that the same Commissioners heretofore appointed by an exparty rule of this court to settle the account current of the defendant Timothy Holt as admr of Robert Holt dec'd to state and settle the account and ascertain the balance due from said Timothy Holt to the estate of said Robert Holt and divide the same among the Plaintiff and Defendants according to their respective rights. Charging them severally with the following sums received by way of advancement on the said Robert Holt's lifetime, to wit, The Plaintiff ten pounds Phoebe Warren ten pounds, William Holt by Stephen Smith his admr two hundred and fifty pounds, Rebecca Foard, ten pounds, Robert Holt two hundred and fifty pounds, Nancy Watkins thirty pounds, Sarah Dillard twenty pounds, James Holt two hundred and fifty and Timothy Holt seven pounds ten shillings Specia and five hundred pounds paper money according to its value at the time when received by the scale of depreciation and that they make report thereof to the Court in order to a final decree.
