Military		Land-Office Military Warrant, Key, George Grant of land given to George Key for his services in the Virginia State Line, Revolutionary War. Dated August 5, 1784. He was my 4th great grandfather.

Notes	Alt Birth: 1753 Amherst Co., Virginia Came to Callaway Co. in 1831 at the age of 78 per Pioneers of Missouri book. The following is from the Pioneer Families of Missouri book written in 1876, which is not always accurate: "KEY, George Key served in the Rev. war 4 years. He afterward married SUSANNAH CRAIGHEAD, of Franklin Co., VA., and in 1831, at the age of 78 years, he came to MO., and settled in Callaway Co. His children were George T., Martin, Susan, Jerusha, Adonijah, Arphaxad, and Joanna. Jerusha married WALTER KEMP, and settled in Callaway Co. in 1831. Joanna married ALBERT AGEE, who settled in Callaway Co. in 1830." George and Susannah (Craighead) Key probably lived on the south side of Blackwater River in Bedford County, Virginia on 100 acres of land which John Craighead gave to George Key in 1786. In 1809 John and Robert Craighead, executors of John Craighead, deceased, of Franklin and Bedford Counties, sold to George Key 106 acres on the north side of Blackwater River. In 1829, George Key gave his four children, "Joanna Agee, Derusha Kemp, Susan Key and Martin Key" all of his property except the tract of land on which he dwelt. The later he gave to his son, Martin. George and Susannah Key and a number of their children moved to Missouri in 1831 and settled in Callaway County, where he died January 15, 1836, and she sometime after 1840.
