Alexander by the GSA, Washington, D.C.
1. Dark complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, 5'10"
2. Enlisted in the CSA March 23, 1862 in Richmond for a period of 12 mos.
3. Private, Co. K, 10th Regiment, Va. Cavalry. Company muster rolls show him as present thru Aug. 1864. Once he was absent on "detail for horses".
4. A receipt for $25.20 was signed by him at Culpepper Court House, Va. on Aug 26, 1863 for "services rendered to the 10th Va. Cavalry as blacksmith for 63 days at 40 cents a day".
5. He was captured near Petersburg, Va. on Aug 22, 1864 by the Army of the Potomac (50th New York Engineers).
6. As a "rebel deserter" he took the Oath of Allegiance to the U.S. of America on Sept. 9, 1864 at City Point, Va.
7. In U.S. Records he was listed as a prisoner of war at Point Lookout, Md.
8. He was admitted to Old Capitol Prison Hospital in Washington, D.C. Died Sept. 23, 1864 with jaundice.
