HERRING, James, Judy, W11276, VA Line, sol was b in 1754 in Albemarle Co VA & he lived there at enl and he appl there 19 Oct 1832 & he also d there 16 Jun 1845, sol had m Miss Judah or Judy Cafer (the m bond was dated 2 Apr 1784 in Orange Co VA), wid appl 4 Mar 1846 Albemarle Co VA aged 82, wid d about 1847 leaving heirs (not named), in 1846 a James Herring, Jr. of Albemarle Co. VA was a witness for widow.

In the name of God amen: I James Herring Sr. of the County of Albemarle, being of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament as follows:
1st After the payment of all my just debts, the residue of my estate real and personal, I dispose of as follows. I lend to my beloved wife, Judy Herring, and my son James Herring Jr and during the natural life of my said wife all of my estate both real and personal, except the specific legacies, herein and after mentioned.
2nd I lend unto my daughter Nancy Herring during the natural life of my said wife Judy Herring, one negro girl named Louisa with her future increase, and at the death of my said wife, the said negro girl and her increase to return to my estate, and be divided with my other property as hereinafter mentioned.
3rd. At the death of my said wife Judy Herring, I give and bequeath unto my son James Herring the whole of my land and wagon and horses, cattle of every kind - household and kitchen furniture, plantation tools and the one third part of my negroes to him and his heirs forever.
4th. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Nancy Herring one third of my negroes, but should she marry, then I give and bequeath to all the children she now has or may hereafter have, except her son Allen the same to them and their heirs forever.
5th I give and bequeath to Allen Herring son of my said daughter Nancy Herring, one third of all my negroes to him and his heirs forever.
6th I give and bequeath to my son Nelson Herring one dollar to him and his heirs forever.
7th I give and bequeath to my daughter Sally Taylor's children one dollar to them and their heirs forever.
8. I give to my daughter Polly Hall's children the sum of one dollar to them and their heirs forever.
9th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Janatha King the sum of one dollar. To her and her heirs forever.
10th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Betsey Jerrill the sum of one dollar to her and her heirs forever.
11th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Malinda Jerrill the sum of one dollar to her and her heirs forever.
12th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Tabitha Mitchell the sum of one dollar to her and her heirs forever.
13th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Judy Hall the sum of one dollar to her and her heirs forever.
14th. I hereby constitute and appoint my son James Herring, and my friend James Michie, Sen. executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 18th day of June 1842.
