- William A. Burdett Died on Wednesday
Pioneer Callawegian, 82, Suffered Broken Hip Three Weeks Ago.
William A. Burdett, 82 years old, died at his home, one mile east of Fulton, December 27. He had been in failing health for the last two years and had been confined to his bed for three weeks with a broken hip, received in a fall.
He was born August 26, 1851, and was reared in his father's home, now known as the Ed. Hermann place, near Ballenger Springs.
He was married to Ella Blackburn March 7, 1894. Surviving him is his wife and also a niece, Mrs. Frank Hillgartner, whom they reared from
infancy.
Mr. Burdett was a member of a family of eight children, only two of whom survive. They are: Dr. Gabe Burdett of Centralia, Wash., and Mrs. Frank Smith of El Paso, Tex. Two nieces in Fulton are Mrs. Walter Harris and Mrs. Earnest Schroers.
He united with the Bethel Church young in life. He was of a jolly, cheerful disposition and always ready to lend a helping hand when necessary. He loved his neighbors and friends and was a devoted companion.
