    • Tom Day Found Fatally Wounded Near His Home
      Tom Day, Route 3, was found dead of a gunshot wound yesterday morning on the farm of Kenneth Fry, a neighbor, in the Herring School community.
      Sheriff W.A. Dawson said Day was found clutching a 20-gauge shotgun in his right hand. He had a wound in the upper front portion of his head.
      Coroner Denzil Browning reports that an inquest will be held but no date has yet been set. Members of the coroner's jury viewed the body this morning. The jury members are Ruben Hughes, Ralph Dawson, O.H. Hamilton, W.A. Youse, Ernest McDonald and Harry Gilpin.
      The boy is at the Browning Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
      Mr. Day was born on July 20, 1900, in Des Moines, Iowa, son of Robert and Susan Daub Day. He had been employed at Harbison-Walker Refractories here for the past 16 years.
      Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Chrystena) Witt, Fulton, Mrs. Oveta Ivy, Redondo Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Gary (Loreta) Leeper, Fulton; two sons, Norman R. Day, Fulton, and Gerald Loy Day, Mexico, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Luther Gipson, Modesta, Calif., and Mrs. Odie Grady, Des Moines; and seven grandchildren.
