John Carrington and Elizabeth T. Randolph
John Carrington and Nancy Hyten


John Carrington was born on April 2, 1817 in Montgomery Co. Kentucky and came to Callaway Co., Missouri at the age of nine. He was my 2nd great granduncle, a son of Randolph Carrington and Katharine McGary.

On December 21, 1837, he married Elizabeth T. Randolph, daughter of Robert Randolph and Elizabeth Davis, granddaughter of Richard Davis and Priscilla Coe. She was born July 11, 1819 in Warren Co. Tennessee.

John Carrington and his family lived on a farm on the Middle River five miles south of Fulton (off of what is now Highway 54).

Elizabeth Randolph Carrington died June 11, 1854, and is buried in the Guthrie Cemetery, Guthrie, Callaway Co. Missouri. We did not find her headstone when we visited Gutherie cemetery in August of 2006.

On Feb 7, 1855, John Carrington married his half 1st cousin, Nancy Hyten. Nancy was born Mar 7, 1824 in Kentucky. She was a daughter of Stephen H. Hyten and Nancy McGary, a granddaughter of Josiah Hyten and Rebecca Caywood, and, Major Hugh H. McGary and Mary O'rafferty. She was my 1st cousin 4 times removed.

John Carrington died Mar 31, 1900 in Callaway Co. Missouri and is buried in Carrington Baptist Church Cemetery, Carrington, Callaway Co. Missouri.
