Albert Thomas Herring and Anna Levica Foster

Albert Thomas Herring was born in Callaway Co., Missouri on Feb. 3, 1844. He was a son of George Washington Herring and Hester Ann Kemp, and was my great granduncle.

On May 9, 1867, in Callaway Co., Missouri, he married Nancy Jane Hill. Nancy was born abt. 1843, in Callaway Co. Missouri. She was a daughter of Ambrose Brockman Hill and Elizabeth Williams, a granddaughter of John Hill and Agnes Brockman. Nancy's sister, Martha Hill, married Albert's brother, Samuel Herring. Nancy Hill was my 2nd cousin 4 times removed.

On the 1870 census, Albert is listed as Albert Herron, living one house away from his parents, Saint Aubert township, Callaway, Missouri;

I believe Albert and Nancy were divorced sometime between 1880 and 1888.

Albert T. Herring married Anna Levica Foster on Sept. 11, 1888 in Callaway Co., Missouri. Anna Levica Foster was born abt. 1869 in Callaway Co., Missouri. She was a daughter of James R. Foster and Mary Catherine Burch. I do not have a date of death for Anna, but believe she died between 1895 and 1900. On the 1900 census, the 3 young children of Albert and Anna Herring are all living with other relatives.

Albert T. Herring and Anna Levica Foster had 3 children:

  1. John Franklin Herring b: July 31, 1889, Callaway Co., Missouri, d: Aug 21, 1952, Callaway Co., Missouri, buried Hillcrest Cemetery, Fulton, Callaway, Missouri.

On 1910 census, Albert T. is living in the Callaway Co. Alms House. He is listed as widowed. He is also listed as being blind.

On his death certificate, his parents names are incorrect, but they are somewhat logical. The info for his death cert. was given by his son, John Franklin Herring. As far as I can tell from records, none of his children lived with him while growing up.

Albert Thomas Herring died on Jan. 23, 1913 in St. Aubert Twp., Callaway Co., Missouri. He is buried at the Old Brick Providence cemetery, Callaway Co., Missouri.
