    • David W. Herring
      Funeral services for David W. Herring, 64, Robinson, who died Tuesday at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, Ind., will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the Buchanan Funeral Home, Robinson, with the Rev. David Babb officiating. Interment will follow in the Robinson Old Cemetery.
      Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday.
      Mr. Herring was office manager for Norris Brothers and continued with Tri-Co Industries Inc., for approximately 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II and had 30 years perfect attendence with the Rotary Club of which he was a past president.
      Survivors include his wife Nadine; one son, John, Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Mary Jo) Hubbard, Rolling Meadows; two grandchildren, Deanna Herring and Jon Jason Hubbard.

    • Graduated in the Class of 1935 from Fulton High School. He attended Westminester College in Fulton Missouri.

      WW II veteran, 667th Bomb Squadron, 444th Bomb Group, 20th Air Force. He served in India and in the Pacific during the war.

      Moved from Fulton MO to Eldorado Springs MO 1946, moved to Robinson IL 1949. They came to Robinson to work for Buddy Blackburn, who owned the Woodrough Hotel in Robinson. Mr. Blackburn was the widowed husband of David Herring's Aunt, Elizabeth Carter Blackburn. After a few years running the hotel, he went to work at Norris Bros. as the office manager. When the company was sold, he continued to work as their office manager. It was an oil well equipment company. He worked there until his death in 1981. He also ran a small business out of his home called the Basement Stamp Shop. He made rubber stamps for local businesses. After his death, my mother continued to run this business.

      He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Robinson. In the 1960's and 70's, he ran the equipment to simulcast the church service over the radio. He was active with the Boy Scouts. He was a past president of the Robinson Rotary Club, and a Mason.

      My father was very tall, about 6'7". He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, both football and baseball teams. He had a beautiful bass singing voice and was known around town for always whistling a tune wherever he went.
