    • Margaret Herring Died on Saturday
Daughter of Judge and Mrs. D.W. Herring Succumbed to Long Illness
Miss Margaret Ansella Herring, 24 years old, daughter of Judge and Mrs. D.W. Herring of Fulton, died at 3:40 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. J.R. Carter, 907 Court street, following an extended illness of two and a half years.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 o'clock Monday morning at St. Peter's Catholic Church by the Rev. Fr. Paul Kertz, assistant paster of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 5500 South Kingshighway, St. Louis, Mo., assisted by the Rev. Fr. W.H. Haudendistel, paster of the St. Peter's Church of Fulton. Burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery of Fulton.
Miss Herring underwent an operation at the Callaway Hospital in Fulton two and a half years ago after a short illness. Complications followed and for a time she was a patient at the Missouri State Sanitorium at Mount Vernon. Later she entered Mount St. Rose Hospital in St. Louis. She became interested in the Catholic faith while at Mount Vernon and while at Mount St. Rose was baptized into the church by Fr. Kertz.
She was born October 6, 1911, in Fulton and spent practically her entire life here. She was graduated from the Fulton High School, and attended William Woods College. Her principal interest was music, in which she was quite talented as a pianist and organist. She served as organist for the Methodist Sunday School several years and one year served as organist at the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her parents, Judge and Mrs. D.W. Herring, her grandmother, Mrs. J.R. Carter, and a brother, David Wilson Herring. One sister, Josephine Carter Herring, preceded her in death in 1922 as a result of injuries when she was struck by an automobile.
Miss Herring was of a cheerful disposition and made friends easily. She was patient and retained her smile even in her extended illness. Friends join in extending sincere sympathy to members of the family in their bereavement.

  • Notes
    • She graduated from Fulton High School in 1930, and went by the nickname of Peggy. In school she was a member of the Glee Club, the Girls Chorus, the Carnival, the Orchestra, and the Girls Hiking Club.

Death certificate has birth date as Oct. 16, headstone has Oct. 6. I'm pretty sure it was Oct. 6. Death certificate info was given by Josephine Herring, her mother. She died at home.
