On the 1870 census they are back in Callaway Co., Missouri, his father in law, Andrew Bowen, age 78 was living with them. There is a Mary Bowen age 55, born in Kentucky, also living there, She is either a second wife, or his daughter. Lydia had a sister named Mary born about that time. They were also living next door to Andrew Herring.

5 Sept. 1879 Estate appraisal (CC Co.) lists "Littie A. Carrington" as widow; value was $134
estimate and included two horses, 9 hogs, 45 bushels of wheat, and 40 barrels of wheat in field. Also
had 120 acres of ground, worth $203, T46,R9,S30; Halfway between Ham's Prairie and Caldwell.
This land was immediately south of Joseph L. Mosley's land and James Burle Mosley land per 1876
Range map. The land apparently was obtained from Ephrain Owen since he had it as
an oriiginal land grant from 2/24/1857 - F102). Probate also mentions that he owed $20 for 5 visits
by Dr. Nixon during last illness. Period was 6 to 13 July 1879.

In May 2007, we discovered what is a previously unknown Callaway county cemetery. Samuel and Lydia Bowen Carrington were both buried either on his land or right next door on Mosley land. Daughter Mary Ann Carrington married James Mosley. There were probably other Carrington and Mosely burials there. The owner of that land now remembers a small cemetery with standing headstones when he first bought his property. He also remembers that about 12 years ago (abt 1995) the property owner where the family cemetery was, bulldozing the land. The current property owner is willing to take us out to have a look where the cemetery was, and we hope to be able to do that on another research trip. This is a totally destroyed cemetery.
