    • Derritt Hill Dead
Derritt Hill died at his home in this city at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Hill had been sick for several days, in fact, had not been well for several weeks, but very few knew of his critical condition.
He had suffered severe injuries from a truss and this was followed by an attack of flux and during the last few days he sank rapidly.
The funeral service will be held at the family residence this morning and the internment will take place at Rising Sun Church.
Derritt M. Hill was a native of Virginia, having been born in Albemarle county, January 12, 1829, making him 66 years of age. His parents moved to Missouri when he was six years old and located in Callaway county. In 1851 he came to Audrain, where he continued to reside until 1891, when he took up residence in this city. On February 7, 1850, Mr. Hill was united in marriage to Francis M. Hill, from which union were born six children, only two of whom, John W. and Charles of this city survive him. In 1887 Mrs. Hill died, and in 1890 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Lyda Goodfellow, of Randolph county who survives him.
D.M. Hill was baptized by Marcus Willis in Fulton 1849, and he had ever afterward lived the life of an hosest, conscientious christian gentleman. He was a charter member of Long Branch Christian church and also Rising Sun Christian church. He was one of the counties oldest residents and none are held in higher esteem than he was. His advanced age seemed to unite him closer to his church and by the tender chords of love bind him closer to his friends and his loss to both will be an irreparable one.
