Notes |
- assuming daughter of Marcus based on 'GDau' relationship to Andrew Herring on 1880 census.
Marcus and Clara were living with Andrew in 1880. I'm not positive that Clara was Marcus and Martha's child. They did have a son in 1874, who died at 2 months and in his obituary there is a poem that starts out, "beloved first born", but maybe it meant first born son... There are no children at all mentioned in either Marcus or Martha's obituaries. I have studied Andrew's other two children and this child doesn't really fit with either of them. Jarrel's wife died in 1877 and her obit does not mention that she was a mother. John's wife also died in 1877 and she did have a daughter, but that daughter was living with her other grandparents in 1880, and her name was Stella, born in 1877. All three brothers's wives died in 1877. Clara was definately listed in 1880 as a granddaughter of Andrew Herring, 6 years old. Since she was born about the same time as the baby that died, perhaps they were twins? I'm leaving her attached to Marcus and Martha Herring for right now, but this is a puzzle.
