Seth Herring was the third child of George Washington Herring Jr. and Josima McNerva Allen. He was born Dec 11, 1875 in Callaway Co. Missouri. He was known by the nickname of Jack all his life. Seth Herring was my granduncle.
Seth married Myrtle Qalls on Aug 16, 1910 in Callaway Co., Missouri. Myrtle Qualls was born on March 1, 1887 in Callaway Co. Missouri. She was a daughter of Powell Qualls and Euphemia Althiser.
Seth (Jack) and Myrtle Herring had two children:

George Powell Herring, 81, of Fulton, died Jan. 9, 1993, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
He was born Aug. 10, 1911, in Fulton, the son of the late Seth "Jack" and Myrtle Qualls Herring. He married LaVerne Zimmerman in Jefferson City in 1937, and she survives. He was employed by the International Shoe Company for more than 30 years, and was working for the Clothing Room at Fulton State Hospital when he retired in 1975.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, __ Herring, of Hartford, Conn., and __ Herring, of Fairfax, Calif.; two granddaughters and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday at Maupin Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton, the Rev. Chuck Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

On the 1910 census, Seth lives alone in Fulton and is an insurance salesman.
On the 1930 census, Seth and Myrtle Herring lived at 202 Ravine Street in Fulton. Seth goes by the name of Jack. They rent the house for $15, and have no radio. Jack is 54, married at age 34. His occupation is a house painter, Myrtle and son George both work at the shoe factory.
On Nov 11, 1948, Seth died of a heart attack. He is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Fulton, Callaway Co., Missouri. I do not have a death date for Myrtle or for their daughter Ruby Faye.
