Herring Carter Cemetery (destroyed) West of Fulton, Callaway County, Missouri - John B. Herring land | |
| This cemetery has been destroyed by the people who have owned the land since the Herring family lived there. There are no stones or pieces of stones here. The only evidence of a cemetery are burial depressions in the ground. This cemetery was recorded by the DAR in 1933. They listed the stones they could read and commented that there were quite a few more graves. Between 1933 and now, every trace of the cemetery has been destroyed. The pictures below show the cemetery and surrounding land as it was in 2005. The cemetery was in the wooded area, this was the original John B. Herring land. | |

| Benjamin Herring, my 4th great grandfather, father of John B. Herring. born between 1866 and 1775, Albemarle Co. Virginia, died 1838, Callaway Co. Missouri. On Dec. 27, 1797 in Albemarle Co., Virginia he married Nancy Hill. She died between 1810 and 1819 in Albemarle Co., Virginia. He was probably one of the 1st burials here. His headstone was not found in 1933 when the DAR listed this cemetery. | |
| John B. Herring, my 3rd great grandfather. b: abt 1794 in Albemarle Co. Virginia, died between June 24, 1841 and Sept 28, 1841, Callaway Co. Missouri. This was his land. He was a son of Benjamin Herring and Nancy Hill, grandson of Henry Hill and Susanna Jones all of Albemarle Co. Virginia. On Nov. 11, 1819 in Albemarle Co., Virginia, he married his 1st cousin, Mariah Hill. Readable footstone existed in 1933. | |
| Mariah Hill, wife of John B. Herring, b: 1796, Albemarle Co. Virgina, d: Jan 28, 1879, Callaway Co. Missouri. My 3rd great grandmother. After John B. Herring's death she married Ezra B. Sitton, after his death she married Thomas Dulin. She was a daughter of Charles Hill Sr. and Molly Hill, a granddaughter of Henry Hill and Susanna Jones all of Albemarle Co. Virginia.
