Geroge Washington Herring Jr. and Josima McNervy Allen Herring. George Washington Herring Jr. and wife Josima M. Allen original headstone disapeared many years ago. This Civial War veteran marker was dedicated in October, 2007 and is where they both are buried. These are my great grandparents. George W. Herring Jr. was a son of George Washington Herring Sr. and Lucy Simco. He was a grandson of George Herring and Elizabeth Closby, and, James Simco and Francis Canada. George was born on Feb. 14, 1846 and died Jun. 15, 1929. On Feb. 19, 1871 in Callaway Co., Missouri, he married Josima McNerva Allen. She was born on Apr. 16, 1854 and died Dec. 6, 1922. She was a daughter of John Karah Allen and Mary L. Walker. She was a granddaughter of Thomas Walker and Bettie Langley, and, Joseph Allen and Mary Margaret Murphy. George Washington Herring Jr. was a veteran of the Civil War on the side of the Confederacy.
